Indoor Cycling Activities

Wade Moreno

Indoor cycling will increase your stamina, improve your concentration, and aid in weight loss and adding definition to your muscles. If you are looking for some ways to make indoor cycling an activity that you look forward to participating in, change your schedule often and use some challenging criteria to aid with each workout.

An Interactive Program

Envisioning yourself cycling through a beachside town or in an area that is heavily populated with dense forests can be accomplished through an interactive program that provides virtual bike training. With this type of program, you choose the destination where you would like to cycle through, the distance and skill level that you will be participating in, and the type of topography that you will encounter.

For a beginning session, pick an appealing destination that features flat roadways. As you get accustomed to training, choose settings that are more difficult. For each interactive session, stream the program on an LED television or a monitor.

Circuit Training

Circuit training involves working out various muscle groups, through the use of various exercises. Indoor cycling can be the predominant activity that you choose. Add some other activities that can be completed during each exercise session. In addition to toning up more parts of your body, you won't be subjected to sitting in one spot for the entire duration of an exercise routine.

Add push-ups, jogging, squats, and weightlifting to your schedule. Designate a specific amount of time for each activity. Use a stopwatch or a timer to aid in keeping track of when it is time to switch exercise stations. Begin by pedaling your indoor bike. Once enough time has elapsed to switch stations, choose one of the alternate exercises and complete repetitions, until it is time to switch to another station.

A Friendly Competition

One of your friends or family members can provide you with the motivation you need to push yourself during each cycling session. Ask someone who you are close to if they would like to participate in a cycling competition. If you plan on taking turns on your stationary bike, hold the contest at your home. Otherwise, make plans to meet up at a local fitness center. Both you and your competitor will be supplied with a stationary bike.

Set a time limit for the contest and attempt to pedal a longer distance than your competitor. If you enjoy the initial competition, try some other contests that involve increasing the resistance level of each pedaling session.
